There's nothing like online dating to make it painfully clear, men know nothing about women. And it's not like we aren't telling them or sharing our opinions. Ehem. Having seen one too many profiles on dating sites like Match, eHarmony, Tinder, etc., I consider myself an expert. I could easily devote entire chapters on why "24/7HardForYou" would not be considered a proper username, but let's focus on the more obvious...the profile pictures.
I park my car and pop the trunk. I grab my always there blanket and a book I had quickly snatched from home as I headed back to the park. I see Beau in the distance standing next to a beat up old truck, tailgate indeed missing. He heads towards me and is genuinely happy to see me even though it’s only been an hour since the first half of our date.
I re-read Beau’s letter a few times with a silly grin on my face. Who writes a sweet letter like that nowadays and this, from a complete albeit sexy stranger? I have to admit, his words appealed to my vanity and sufficiently stroked my ego. Was this too good to be true? Maybe, but I was game. He included his email and phone number, how could I say no or at least no thank you?
We’ve all wanted that sexy, mysterious stranger who’s making eyes from across the way to come over and start something. We’ve all had that same sweet fantasy. You spot him while scanning the room, a habit you've picked up being single. You quietly admire his good looks, the way you would a painting, but skeptically figure he’s either taken, gay, or simply too damn good looking for you. You sneak another peek pretending not to notice but now notice, he’s noticing you right back.
Most of us ladies hit the gym and so odds are, we’ve been hit on by Gym Guy. He comes in many forms and variations and can be easily recognized in Any Gym, USA. Gym Guy spotting can be considered entertainment since it offers the distraction sometimes needed to get through the doldrums of squats, lunges, and crunches.
“So many of my friends, both guys and girls, need this advice stat. Sharing the Red Flags!”
“I’m loving the Blah! Maybe I shouldn’t read it at work because I find myself laughing out loud sitting in my cubicle. I totally feel for Olivia and am pulling for her, go Olivia!”
